1- Get yourself a heart rate monitor so that you can track your heart rate during the run. This information will help you know when to slow down in order to conserve energy allowing you to finish the run. It will also let you know when you can push harder to improve on your previous times. Think of your heart rate monitor as the gas gauge for your body.
2- Make sure that you have the proper running shoes for your feet and proper running clothes so that your sweat wicks away and you don’t get friction on your skin.
