Parkinsons Questionnaire
Hello,
My name is Alistair Hopper, I am a personal trainer who motivates people living with Parkinson’s disease to exercise consistently.
I have worked in the personal training industry for over 21 years and five of those years I have served members of the Parkinson’s community. I have a drive to support this community and wish to offer a fitness service that meets people’s specific needs.
I am gathering information in order to create a virtual exercise program that focuses on the fitness goals of people living with Parkinsons. Here is what I am looking at:
Providing three different workouts each month that are 30 minutes in length. The workout sessions will be pre-recorded so that they can be viewed at a time of day that best suites you.
Providing each person with direct access (by calling or email) to a trainer. This will give the ability to ask questions about an exercise or request an adjustment to accomodate any injuries etc. You will then receive a response in less than 24 hours.
Encouraging feedback on exercises you enjoy or exercises you would like to see more of. This will allow us to better shape the following months workouts.
I have five simple questions that will help us shape the program. It would be great to have your help as we decide its direction.
“Alistair's commitment to people living with Parkinson's was evident from the first time we spoke. As a newly diagnosed patient, he helped me understand how we could work together to integrate movement into my life, not just in the gym. Alistair doesn't just help me manage the daily symptoms I struggle with now, like Bradykinesia, gait issues, rigidity and pain; he also pays close attention to the neurological connections to functional movement and adapts as we go so that my brain is working as hard as my body is. When we work together, I never feel like I am failing at living with PD. I have confidence that with his help, encouragement and accountability, I will live a full life and be stronger, no matter what the mental, emotional, and physical progression of Parkinson's looks like for me. Exercise is important, but expertise is essential.”
